Our Targeted Audience
This program will target African American male students at Holland Elementary School and Corporate Landing Middle School who have been suspended for more than one day and intend to return to school to complete their education pursuit. This program is designed to reach African American male students who need academic and personal support in order to be successful in school.
Suspended students will report to Men of Faith Daywatch Program hot site, from 8:30am to 3:30pm each day of their suspension.
Students will arrive daily with academic assignments from their core classes – English, math, science, and social studies. Assignments will be completed daily with staff assistance and tutoring where needed.
Each student will be required to come equipped to do their assigned work with books, paper, pen, pencil, and all other items needed to complete assignments.
A mentor will be assigned to each student and will meet with the student for one hour during the school day. Students also may be required to perform some community service with mentor supervision.
Students will get one half hour fro lunch. Each student will provide their own lunch to eat at the facility during the lunch period. Lunch time must be spent on the facilites’ property, observing all rules and regulations of the program.
No student will be given permission to leave the facility before the end of the program day. Students released early must be accompanied by a parent. Attendance will be taken each day and reported to the students’ school and parents.
